It's foggy out today, a perfect day for a hike. Our local paper, the Marin IJ, publishes a Walk of the Week every week, and we try to do them. They fit in with our Stairway walks, but are all in Marin County. Today, we finally did the one we've been wanting to do for a while, the Dipsea Steps. I have no idea why they are called that, but there has been a "Dipsea Run" since 1922 that starts with these stairs, and goes out to Stinson Beach. This takes place in June, so we haven't ever seen it, but we've heard of these steps.
There are 600 steps on 3 different staircases. It is simply beautiful--high in the pine trees, amid the clouds and the Sequioa's, you can smell the trees. There are houses along the stairs, as with most all the staircases around here and these homes are beautiful, woodsy, big, with views of the gourges.
We went down the stairs first, safer that way! We then turned around and climbed up them. Not too bad, we must not be in too bad shape, we managed them. It was quite strenuous though! We had Gus with us, and he trooped along too, though he will sleep now for the next 3 days, I am sure.
We were oh so proud of ourselves, that we needed a reward. So, of course we went to our favorite pig out place, "Pearl's Phatburger." These are the best burgers, really! We discovered this place last year when we were really hungry, and we still love it. In fact, they had a sign up that Bobby Flay just voted it the top burger place in some magazine. We did eat like piggies, but it was mighty good!
And oh, just so you know, the beef was organic, and therefore, healthy! So very California!
