The Road Less Taken is the Road that is Easier

We need to just do a week in review, too much going on.  Alot of it routine, so not worth mentioning.

A quick week!   The time is going so fast now, I feel compelled to get everything in!
I am making friends.   It happens when you don't expect it.   I played mah jongg twice this week, on Monday, with the newbies, and Tuesday, at the Mill Valley Community Center.  Enjoyable both times, very comfortable.  I almost won, but haven't yet, will I ever?
On Tuesday, I met Sarah G for lunch at The Buckeye, a place Dan didn't think he'd want to go  (aren't we carrying this football rivalry a bit too far?)  Anyway, it's a beautiful place, and they did have a wedge of lettuce!   It's nice to get to know her better, she's very enjoyable.   She is a cousin in law to my cousin, Mickie, very confusing!
Later, Dan and I went to a movie, "Brooklyn's Finest"--not very good.
Wednesday is our Henry day, and today we celebrated Paula and Ken's birthdays, made dinner for them at the kids house.    Paula is recovering from surgery on the roof of her mouth (ouch!) so we had to make soft food, and Lindsey put a candle in some jello!   Henry is so cute, so sweet, and honestly, grows each time we see him, which is about twice a week.   He is now standing on his own!   I mean, he hangs on to legs, knees, tables, whatever, but he can now pull himself up and he's so proud!
Thursday, we took the Tennessee Valley Trail, which is a trail in the Marin Headlands, off of Stinson Beach Rd.   It was beautiful!    Very popular, there were hikers, joggers, bicyclists, horses, etc.   (no dogs, remember?)    A 4 mile round trip hike to the beach.   And yes, there was a stairway!   So i can officially count another stairway walk!   There was one spot where there was a big pool of water, and you could either walk around it, or walk across it on rocks and timbers.   Almost everyone took the hard way, including us.   It was difficult, I felt like I was walking on parallel bars!    As there were other people our age doing it, however, I knew I had to give it a try.
Later, we had dinner plans with my friend, Marcia.   I met her 2 years ago at Jazzercize. She had Lymphoma last year, and had a bone marrow transplant last fall.   So, we do have quite a bond!   So she is doing well, and we had dinner with them and another couple, Beppie and Jack. Beppie and Marcia are both playing Maj. We enjoyed ourselves a lot, at dinner.  They are very interesting.   We just couldn't talk about politics!   (I won't go into it!). Pat

We talked about politics, but we're not in much agreement. It was a good example of how polarized politically our country continues to be. Marin county in a very liberal place, and I do enjoy that. Democrats outnumber Republicans 2-1. The issues of the economy, government services and a Governor's election are parallel to Michigan. School budgets are destroyed, and state employees are on furlough, and no one has the desire, or power to raise revenues. So cut cut cut, seems to be the preferred option. My opinion is that we are experiencing the long term effects of conservative tax cutting that has been going on since Reagan.

Enough politics, we had a very enjoyable week, even though it was a bit cooler and we had a couple of days of rain.
