On Monday, I went to my new found friend, Suzan's house, where she and I , and our other new friend, Sue, taught three other women how to play Mah Jongg. They are both trying to get a regular game going, especially Suzan. A really fun group of women! One of the women is married to a Chinese man who came to pick her up, and he showed us the Chinese way to play, though he was rather quick about it. Still, we got the point. So this group will now play every Monday, I believe.
Later, Dan and I went to a movie, as it was rainy. We saw "Crazy Heart". I haven't seen all of the nominated movies this year, which is rare for me, so I wanted to see what I could. We liked the movie, liked Jeff Bridges a lot. Not a great movie, but he was good.
Tuesday, I played Mah Jongg again, this time at the Mill Valley Rec. center. I went with Suzan, and i knew one of the others there. It was a nice game, a nice group, and SO MUCH FUN to play! They play differently than I have, the strangest thing is that they throw the tiles in a pillowcase to mix them up when they spill out, half of them are upside down, so you still have to take the time to turn them over. They also don't play a "hot wall", for those of you who know the rules, and i didn't like that as much. But yeah, I got to play!
Later, it was still raining, so we went to another movie! We saw The Ghost Writer, and really liked it. It's the best movie we've seen for a while, pure Roman Polanski----suspenseful, clever, well acted.
Later that night, we went to this bookstore we love, Book Passages, and heard three local mystery writers speak. Cara Black, David Corbett & Domenic Stansberry. We Liked Cara Black the best and ended up buying her book. It was very enjoyable to go to this bookstore and hear these authors, you always learn something.
Wednesday went to Jay and Lindsey's. It's our day to visit them. We cooked them dinner, though they always help. Henry gets cuter each week, or each half week. He's getting longer and a little less chubby. When he sees us, he breaks into a smile! It is so heart warming! We took some movies and put them on IMovie here is the link http://gallery.me.com/
